1956 GMC Chevy Pickup Camaro Vortec

1956 GMC Pickup Specs

Up for sale is this 1956 GMC pickup located in Tucson, Arizona which is a beauty for any restoration project. Body is rust free and has been prepped for fresh paint. I actually like the darn truck lookin all Santa Fe like this, and get compliments every time I drive it. Motor is a 5.9 litre Vortec out of a 96 GMC pickup, with an Edelbrock manifold and carburator. I dont know the milage, unfortunately, but she runs like she's new. Radiator is a pretty recent 4 core. its got a pretty cool stainless or aluminum overflow that is tall and cylindrical. Fan is a clutch type. There are some burly stock style exhaust manifolds, battery is a very recent gel type. T350 Trans shifts nice, although the pivot on the column shifter is a bit sloppy. There is an A/C compressor on board but I have no idea the condition. Wiring needs to be finished although whats there looks decent and safe. I see that both door lower hinges have had replacement mounts neatly installed. Floorboards are nice and Arizona solid. Camaro front clip with disc brakes and 2" drop spindles is so nicely installed that it looks factory fresh. Rear end is camaro as well. I dont know the gear ratio but it goes down the freeway 90 miles an hour all day long. I believe the tilt steering is from a late 60s/early 70s chevy/gmc. rear bumper is quite new with beautiful chrome. Previous owner said the front bumper is original but I find it hard to believe because the chrome is so gorgeous. Stereo works and has a big Sony amp under the seat. $900 Haneline #HL1423 guages are new out of the box. Right now only the oil and water guages are hooked up. You can easily complete the rest. I have the instructions and the tranny output converter for the speedo, as well as a few other bits that came with em. The glass is all good. windows go up and down nicely on new regulators. The previous owner worked out all the rattles in the driver door but you will need to take care of the passenge side. Both doors need weather stripping kits. The passenger door opens and closes like new but the drivers needs some alignment. Hinges are solid and both the lower hinge mounts have been neatly replaced. I have two window cranks but no door lock levers. I hate those things anyways since they make it so easy to lock up your keys. Currently the passenger door inside panel is off the truck as are both inside top trims. I have them all and will include along with most of the hardware... I am however missing the trim piece that goes between the dash and the windshield. brackets are all there and straight. Seat is a 3/4 bench out of a blazer I was told. There are two nice speakers mounted in the doors with a third open hole in each. I believe you can buy replacements for the inner skin to take care of that... or find a third speaker that fits that hole, maybe. Also, on the forward edge of both wing windows theres been a little corrosion repair with some bondo on it, but I think it might need a little attention. BTW, both wing windows work exellent, both with slightly pitted latches. Ceiling had some crappy old cloth glued up there which I tore off. interior is such that you can paint most of it the color of the body and just put an apoulstered panel or some stainless or whatever in the middle. Wheels are aftermarket, and very nice, as are the hub caps. Tires are about 50%. The dash has been modified there in the middle for the stereo. As I said above, the bumpers and the grill are all quite beautifully chromed with no pits. The stock lookin tailights are the same. However, the GMC logo in the front of the hood is somewhat pitted (bad for Arizona, still pretty good for someplace like upstate NY), as well as the side front fender "GMC" and "V8" emblems. The stainless trim that goes around the cab is all exellent other than in the back where there are few dings from cargo banging on it. There is no heater or heater control in this truck. its got the cover piece over where the control goes. There are no glove box inards installed but I have a new one that I will include. The bed is bone stock and still functioning well, although a couple of the boards are starting to twist up. All the steel pieces are there and straight with only surface rust. Easy to fix... Notice also that this bed has been minorly tubbed with some shallow inner fenders from something late model neatly welded in place. Now mind you, this truck rides low. She's a looker. The suspension is stiff and the ride is a bit rough. Shocks might help but Im not sure. I didnt build this truck but bought it from the guy who did. He's a second generation hot rod guy and just knows everything about this stuff. (ya shoulda seen the pro-street 71 vega in his garage...man...). This truck runs, drives, and stops all excellent. Fix the bed, paint her (if you cant get with the Santa Fe thing), and do a simple interior, and you'll be ready for the big time !! Whats cool is that everything major has been done to this beauty, but youll get to decide on the final details. I hate to let this truck go. I actually only got it recently but realized after only a week that the rutted dirt road I live at the end of is going to be to hard on this front end if I dont go about 10 miles an hour for the last half mile. Unfortunately, its just not the truck for me. Mind you, Ive babied it down that road the 5-6 times Ive even driven it. My other truck is a toyota 4x4 which I can drive like a truck !! I wasnt thinking when I brought this beauty home !! Now Id be up for a classic 50's truck on a modern 2x4 or 4x4 chassis. Now, that would work for me !! Anybody got one to trade ?? $500 downpayment via paypal required within one day of auction end. balance to be paid via cashiers check within 5 days of auction end. Storage possible up to 2 weeks. I can assist with meeting a truck if you want to have this one shipped to you. I welcome overseas business as well and can assist.
